"KINDLE UNLIMITED" charge on my card?

When I checked my debit card account just now, I found there is a weird "Kindle Unlimited" charge. I have never used a real Kindle E-reader, and the only purchase I made related to Kindle is an e-book, which is less than 5 bucks, and I simply treated it like a pdf file.

But where is this charge come from?
I then checked my account history, found that there was a monthly KINDLE UNLIMITED charge, for nearly one year!!!
I know for sure I didn't buy Kindle Unlimited..................

Here comes the answer:

"Kindle Unlimited" is a service that gives you access to thousands books without purchase them individually. This service is included in a customer agreement when you set-up your kindle (who bothers to read 100-page customer agreement?!!! ) and unless you request a cancellation Amazon assumes you would like to subscribe this service.

I will never realize this, if my toefl account didn't run into issues today and I had to check my debit card account details carefully...
I don't like this trick.

Four months have passed since I first wrote this post.
It turns out that Kindle books and Amazon Audible are my best friends now. They are excellent!
I am looking forward to Alexa Echo's joining!

I met the same problem with you and only cancel the service after 6 months. Cancellation process are quite simple, just go to your account ---Kindle Unlimited and then cancel, Only if you found that your card was deducted earlier.

I have a pending charge of $10.54 but I called the # behind the charge on my bank statement (1-866-321-8851) and they canceled the service & refunded the pending charge. Emailed me confirmation of the cancelation. However may take my bank 3-5 business days to put the funds back.

I have a kindle and buy books or find them for free.
I have a new charge on my visa account today for $10.68,
which is exactly the price of kindle unlimited. I wonder if
I accidently pushed the wrong button? The purchase
button & "read for free" button are REAL close to each other. I will need to check Amazon tonight to see if I purchased Kindle Unlimited.

The same thing happened to me and they were trying to bill me for two months. I know for a fact I didn't subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and my Kindle is five years old...so it wasn't just set up. I contested the charges on my card and I cancelled my membership to Kindle Unlimited. I will no longer keep my credit cards on file with Amazon.

Yesterday October 7 2017 I was charged on kindle unlimited account and my cell phone alerted me that a kindle unlimited seat ( whatever the seat part is, never heard of that one ) so I want my money back and for the authorities to arrest these fools who is going into people accounts trying to make their life miserable because apparently they don't have one and they are criminals

Same thing. This is the third month in a row (on the 19th of the month) that I have been charged $10.54 and it shows kindle unlimited 888-4. What in the world is this? I don't have a kindle. Never used one. Don't use Amazon for reading---- nothing. Why is this happening? I have turned off my debit card twice and and received new ones. I am absolutely furious.

I did not sign up for kindle unlimited and find two deductions have been taken from my bank account, also an audible book was loaded which I would never have ordered. How did this happen ? Cancelled my card immediately until matter resolved

This is a scam because this has happened before and Amazon are well aware as to what is going on and they are not doing anything to stop it because for all we know thousands of people are paying Amazon this money unknowingly becuase they do not check their bank statements. My wife noticed it only recently.

It happened to me too and I got it fixed. I have an Amazon account so I logged on via a computer, clicked on Account under my name and found a link to customer service. After going through questions and answering No that it didn’t help I was able to open a chat. I told him I did order something on that date but I didn’t order that and didn’t even have an active Kindle - that it is not on my order history and was not on the email receipt. I demanded the my refund me or prove I made the purchase (which of course they can’t because I never did). I did some research and found multiple forums where this has been going on for years!
If you are not an Amazon customer, try calling 866-321-8851. That is the eReader customer service number. Select unknown charge. They should recognize that you are not a customer and eventually you should be able to get to someone. It’s very automated unfortunately. Another option, try calling Amazon’s main customer service. 888-280-4331. And if that fails, call your credit card company or bank and dispute the charges.
